Striped duofolds of the 40s
During the 20s and way into the 30s the Duofold Line was synonymous with top of the line pens. This changed, however, when the Vacumatic was introduced in 1932/1933. The new Vacumatic with the novel vacumatic filling system and the beautiful transparent plastics soon made the Duofolds, also the Stramline models, look outdated. Thus, The Vacumatic took the place as the top of the line model.
But in 1940 a Duofold with the vacumatic filling system was introduced. Although it gave new life to the Duofold name, it was priced and considered a second line pen, but in therms of quality it was very close to the Vacumatic (equal in quality, one could argue) and a contender for the place as a first line pen. I find them very attractive and elegant!

green, brow and black
red, silver and black
blue silver and black
An line of opaque, lower priced vacumatic Duofolds also existed.
