This is the only vintage Waterman silver overlay set I have. (See below for a contemporary reinterpretation of the overlay pen).
The pattern - commonly referred to as "Bamboo" or "Basket Weave" - was probably introduced around 1925.

Waterman Man 200 Night and Day

The Waterman reinvention of the overlay pens from the beginning of the 20th century. The two pens shown use an overlay of respectively silver and gold as was the case with the original overlays. I think they date from around 1990.
